Obsession, Lies, and Control

I was recently on the Brady Campaigns web site. This is a group obsessed with their own agenda. An agenda that is not about reasonable gun laws, rather it is about control. They talk about how they are noble for releasing "hard hitting" ads. As a person with some technical knowledge of firearms I would classify these adds as lies.

An example is their recent vilification of the FN Five seveN pistol. Their ad states that a "Cop Killer" is available to the general public. In actual fact any firearm is capable of killing humans. This includes Police Officers. However the media has placed the label of "Cop Killer" on certain types of ammunition because of their capability to penetrate soft body armor(like the type most police officers wear). This type of pistol ammunition has never been available to the public.

The pistol has been falsely classified as a "Cop Killer" because it can shoot military armorpeircing rounds. These bullets are available only to the military. The ad says that it can penetrate body armor at 200 yards. Pistols have short barrels and are unstable, they do not create the velocities required to hit targets at that distance. Only the most powerful hunting pistols can effectivly hit targets at ranges longer than 100 yards.

The Brady Campaign wants to ban .50 rifles because they can "shoot down planes." The .50 BMG round is very powerful and it can be used in an antiaircraft role WHEN USING A .50 MACHINEGUN. Rifles in .50 caliber take extreme skill and practice for the military's top marksmen to hit stationary targets at range. It is unreasonable to think that someone could shoot down an aircraft traveling at hundreds of miles an hour with this type of weapon.

The Brady Campaign is not concerned with preventing gun violence, they are concerned with preventing gun ownership. They are obsessed so greatly that they will lie and misrepresent the facts so that they can achieve their real goal: people control.
