The Battle for History.

You may have noticed the media of late speaking about the similarities between Barack Obama and Ronald Reagan. It should be obvious that Reagan was nothing like Obama, in fact it should be obvious that Reagan would vehemently oppose Obama and almost every aspect of his administration. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXBswFfh6AY In his speech "A Time for Choosing he almost prophetically addresses the issues Obama espouses.

It is appalling! Ronald Reagan was a man of principle, who advocated unceasingly for the reduction of the size of the Federal Government. Reagan would likely be disgusted to know he was being compared to a man who openly advocates for unrestrained government growth. Reagan indicated his beliefs were set in a Constitutional Republic, freedom for the citizens of these United States through the rights and protections enumerated by the Rule of Law: The Constitution!

Reagan described the Founding Father's in their rightful adjectives. With praise he indicates his belief that the founders wanted us to be free. This freedom is afforded under the rule of law under a republic and not the mob rule of a democracy. Certainly Reagan would cringe to know that some are comparing him to one who refers to the founders in the pejorative indicating they were misguided.

We certainly should scrutinize with harsh and critical lens any media so deluded as to postulate that Ronald Reagan would endorse Barack Obama in any manner.

Hey Gordon are you enjoying your Big Mac?

Barack Obama made news last week by giving an almost insulting gift to the Prime Minister of England, Gordon Brown. Gordon Brown presented Obama a pen holder made from wood from the HMS Resolute's sistership. In return Obama gave him something unique and hard to aquire... 25 DVDs from AFI's Top 100 films. Can you say tacky? I cant belive this guy is actually is said to have style. I enjoy to gift and receive DVDs as much as anyone but come on. Browns gift was thoughtfull, symbolic, historic and unique. Obama's gift is totally outclassed. The HMS Gannet was the sistership to the HMS Resolute from which the Presidential desk was carved and given as a symbol of friendship. DVDs on the other hand are quite easily accuired. Perhapse on Gordon Brown's next visit Obama will treat him to a McDonalds hamburger.

Fight the good Fight

The grim realities of the world we live in are all around us. Even in The United States of America, the most blessed and free land in all the world we are stricken today with strife. We live in a time of political and economic turmoil. And most saddening the once iron will of the people of the United States has seemed to turn to jello.

As we look back on history we see many constants one of the most obvious is conflict and war. War has been part of society for all of history. Truly no good person desires war, however there are wars that no good person should shirk from fighting. We have always had enemies, we always will. The last hundred or so years have many good examples of evil and despotism. In 1908 a movement started in Turkey that led to the extermination of hundreds of thousands of Armenians living in the former Ottoman Empire during World War I. In 1933 Adolph Hitler gained power in Germany preaching a doctrine of hate and bigotry which culminated in the killing of over 10 million "undesirables" during World War II. During Joseph Stalins reign from 1922 to 1953 he ordered the killing of 80 million people in Soviet Russia. Many other examples of genocide have shown up during the last hundred years including notable examples in Africa, Cambodia, and Bosnia. Often these elements seek to export their hate using terrorism and violence. Aside from what fools will say, Evil is alive and well.

Self proclaimed peace loving elements of our own society often call those who would combat this evil: Warmongers. In my opinion this is most damning to their ideology because they show their true colors of unpatriotic idleness. When backed into a corner they say we should give money, or start peace talks, or unilaterally destroy our own weapons in an attempt to stop the evils of our day. These self deluded individuals just don't understand the realities of war or those who glory in it.

Those who would promote evil around the world will not bend to this ideology, they see it as weakness and exploit it with expert strategies. Terrorism prays on the fears of such weak willed individuals and is most effective among their ranks.

Those who understand know that the path to peace is through strength. It is having an abundance of weapons so powerful and effective that any attack is sure to meet with swift and assured destruction. Some would say we have enough weapons but the foes we face today are different from those past, we must continue to search out new methods of fighting evil. It means having uncompromising values and a diamond hard will of iron. If we want peace we will be strong and uncompromising in our promotion of freedom and government by the people. Ephesians 4: 14 "That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive". We also must have a determination to exterminate those who seek to strike fear into the weak, those who would oppress and reign with despotism. Alma 54: 12 "...and I will come against you, and I will follow you even into your own land, which is the land of our first inheritance; yea, and it shall be blood for blood, yea, life for life; and I will give you battle even until you are destroyed from off the face of the earth."

Range Report

After shooting my new BERSA Thunder .380 ACP, I must say I am quite pleased. This little pistol cost 304 dollars after tax. I had certainly read many beaming reviews of this pistol on the internet. After shooting my other pistols my wife and I decided to get a pistol that would be easier for her to shoot. It took a little work but we finally found one in nickel.

We took it out shooting yesterday and the pistol ran like a champ. No failures, or break in issues. The pistol is accurate, we were able to hit pop cans and clay pigeons with it at 25-35 feet. Recoil is very light.

My Top Ten: Suggested Weapons for Civilan Connsumption.

10. SKS. This soviet designed battle rifle is an excellent choice for civilian consumption. It is built like a tank, every part is robust. Firing the 7.62x39mm soviet round it boasts good power and penetration. With a price tag around 200 dollars it is a perfect gun for someone who wants an all around gun at a rock bottom price. This gun is the entry level into the sport utility rifle category. you can hunt or target shoot with it, and it is competent for home defense. The only drawback is the limited 10 round magazine, with after market larger magazines being unreliable.

9. Glock 19. This compact 9mm is reliable and has a capacity of 15+1. While not a gun with a whole lot of sex appeal it gets the job done. It is simple and perfect for use as a defensive pistol.

8. Remington 870 Magnum. An essential item for anyone concerned with home defense. The 870 magnum is a 12 gauge 3 inch capable shotgun. It is slide action, better known as "pump", and super reliable. Magazine extensions are available which can increase its capacity from 4+1 to 7 or 8 +1. When equipped with a barrel in the 18-20 inch range it is perfect for a close quarters combat environment.

7. Smith and Wesson 642. This is the everywhere gun, because you can pack it anywhere. This .38 special is perfect for CCW. It is +P rated and has a capacity of 5 rounds. This pistol is down to buisiness and is clear in its mission: Defense.

6. SIG Sauer P229. Robust and accurate this pistol boasts many government contracts for law enforcement use. The weapon is reliable and available in three different calibers, namely 9mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG. available in a standard DA/SA configuration along with the new DAK trigger for 100% consistency in trigger pull.

5. M1911A1. Hands down the most successful semiautomatic pistol ever conceived. Designed by John Moses Browning in the early 1900s this pistol entered service in 1911 and stayed the official pistol of the United States until 1985 when it was replaced by the 9mm Beretta 92. This design boasts reliability along with a well documented positive track record. It also is the most common user of the potent .45 Auto cartridge. This weapon has been in production for nearly 100 years and appears that it will continue indefinitely.

4. HK G3. While not directly available to civilans there are a few high quality semiautomatic versions of this impressive weapon. The G3 action is robust and reliable and lends itself to accuracy. Chambered in the potent .308 caliber this weapon has good power out past 600 meters. It is ideal for long range, but short enough that it can be used in closer quarters.

3. HK USP .45. The USP draws its design lineage from Brownings design. Updated by modern manufacturing and materials the USP is accurate, super reliable and durable. designed with a techno polymer frame the USP cuts weight without reducing strength. It is well tested and offers an outstanding 12+1 capacity.

2. Automat Kalashnikov 47-M. More commonly known as the AK47 this weapon is perfect for civilian consumption. Numerous semiautomatic versions are available and it excels in many areas. While often maligned as a weapon with no sporting or defensive use, nothing could be further from the truth! The AK is chambered in 7.62x39 which is a suitable cartridge for hunting deer and other large game in the United States. However aside from its sporting use it clearly is superior in a defensive role. The AK outshines nearly all other firearms when it comes to reliability. It has conquered climates from rainy jungles and swamps to sandstorm swept deserts. It is powerful, and more accurate than handguns. Its short length makes it well suited for a cramped environment as far as long guns go. It is capable of accepting larger magazines which are ideal for self and home defense.

1. AR15. Designed in the 1950s the AR15 had a rocky childhood but has become a world class weapon. The modern AR15 is a reliable accurate and reasonably powerful weapon. The weapon is ingeniously designed with a recoil system that drastically reduces the felt recoil, follow up shots are fast and accurate. The 5.56 NATO round is well suited to bring down hostile personnel, and the weapon is light enough for anyone to shoot. Like the AK this weapon has been maligned as a dangerous weapon used by unsavory people. Of course no one states in the same breath that law enforcement has been using AR15s more and more and that the AR15 has been the host design of the United States Military's rifle for nearly 50 years. This weapon represents a world class choice for defense of the home, and its extended range and accuracy mean that when in the hands of honest folks, that this weapon can do more good.
